Artistudio: Women Artists in Peoria

Exhibition Statement:

The women’s artist group, Artistudio, was published by The Observer newspaper to promote their exhibits during Illinois Arts Week in October 1979.

The ladies involved were: Mary P.D. Heintzman, Wendy Hatch, Mary Ruth Ginn, Carol Hill, Georgeann Danehower, Donna Janssen, Duffy Armstrong, Betty Mayers, Laura Simpson-Boyle and Barbara Melcher.

An exhibition of their work is being held at the Peoria Art Guild in conjunction with the Midwest Women Artists Symposium. The exhibition’s opening reception is October 6th, and will be on view October 6-28th  during the Peoria Art Guild’s open hours.

The Midwest Women Artists Symposium will be October 19th-21st, 2023. This year’s discussion focuses on “Women’s Work: Feminist Women Artists in the Midwest”.
